Sixth Form Engineering Networking Lunch
Stamford Endowed Schools Careers Department have held the first in a series of Business Networking Lunches for Sixth Form students interested in Engineering and Technology.
A range of delegates from Caterpillar, Perkins Diesel, Cummins, Dresser Rand and the Engineering Development Trust were invited to give the pupils a chance to practice their networking skills and find out about opportunities at these world class organisations and agencies. The event was well represented with over 30 boys and girls from the Stamford Endowed Schools.
Sam Jordan, Head of Careers at Stamford School said, “It was very pleasing to see so many students participate in this event as Engineering in the UK is underrepresented in terms of university applicants and apprenticeship schemes. We need to ensure a steady stream of quality students go on to study these disciplines at University.”
Simon Collins, Future Talent Development Manager at Caterpillar said, “With the serious skills shortages in engineering, Caterpillar is working hard to raise awareness about the career opportunities that exist and to identify our engineers of the future. Events such as the networking lunch are ways in which we can directly engage with young people and it is great credit to the school that they provide such opportunities.”
