Y6 Take Part in Victorian Day!

Stamford Junior School Victorian DayStamford Junior School’s Y6 visited Holdenby House to take part in Victorian Day. The 72 children dressed as Victorian servants and throughout the day were in role as ‘urchins’ from the workhouse. They were trained by the very strict housekeeper, Mrs Bumbridge, the butler Mr Rhett and the parlour maid Wilkins, who instructed them on duties including bed making, emptying ‘chamber pots’, ironing, cooking, laying the table and boot cleaning. There was also a lesson in deportment and how to introduce themselves to the Lady of the house. Tom Proffitt and Michaela Wernick were selected as the most promising employees!
