Becky wins ‘Bourne Young Musician of the Year’
Stamford High School student, Becky Taylor Y11, has won the ‘Bourne Young Musician of the Year’ competition for the second year running. The competition is run by The Rotary Club of Bourne and is divided into different classes; instrumental, voice, choirs and ensemble.
Becky entered the senior instrumental class playing her violin. She played two contrasting pieces – Serenata by Stravinsky followed by Habanera by Sarasate. The ‘Bourne Young Musician of the Year’ title is awarded the overall best performance of all classes. Becky has now been put forward for the semi-final where she will compete with musicians from other regions.
Head of Stamford High School, Dyl Powell, said “Becky is a very talented musician who contributes to the rich musical life of the school. She is passionate about her playing and winning ‘Bourne Young Musician of the Year’ is outside recognition of her artistic accomplishment. We are very proud of her.”
