School Council Pupils Develop New Ideas
The School Council is made up of 12 children from Year 5 and 6 at Stamford Junior School, who meet every Tuesday to discuss ideas about School life.
Since September, the School Council have made a display of the children’s favourite healthy School meals. They interviewed children from each year group, asking them what they enjoyed about lunch. They also interviewed Mrs Tilley (Head Chef at SJS) and asked her questions like how she chooses the school menus.
This term the children discussed the need for a ‘Buddy Bench’ in the playground, for children who sometimes feel lonely at playtime. This developed into some ideas for playground games. After designing some new games, the School Council went into the playground and taught the children how to play them. They had a great time and the children loved it. Following on from this, the School Council will be holding an assembly to show the rest of the School their ideas and games.
