Junior School Support Local Foodbank
Stamford Junior School and the Earlybird Nursery collected staple food items and a few treats for the local Stamford Foodbank organisation in time for Easter. Chair of Stamford Foodbank, Eileen Bangay, visited the school and nursery on the morning of the collection to explain to the children how their contributions would be used to help local people in crisis.
This is the school and nursery’s second collection – before Christmas over 220kg of food was collected for distribution which is enough to feed approximately 24 single people or up to 10 families.
Nicola Dunkin, Manager of Stamford Foodbank, said: “Thank you again for your wonderful support. All our clients are so delighted with the help your pupils and staff are able to give them.”
Mrs Smith, Head of Stamford Junior School, commented: “We are delighted to have chosen to support Stamford Foodbank this year. After the success of the collection before Christmas the children were very enthusiastic about continuing their support for such a worthwhile local project.”
