Girls take part in national physics competition
Year 11 and Year 12 girls from Stamford High School have recently taken part in British Physics Olympiad competitions. Ten Year 11 girls attempted the demanding ‘Physics Challenge’ where they were presented with some tough Physics problems to solve. They all did very well with six girls achieving Bronze standard. They were; Anna Billington, Alice Cato, Sarah Smith, Becky Taylor, Kayla Borley and Frankie Pye, who gained the highest mark of the group.
Twelve Year 12 girls undertook the Experimental Project which involved performing an extended practical and writing a detailed report on their findings. This took many hours of hard work to complete and we were delighted that Rachel Lyn and Brooke Chapman both received a Bronze Award for their projects.
Geoff Harman, Head of Science at Stamford High School, said: “Well done to the girls who took part in this competition. They should all be extremely proud of their results.”
