Saturday Maths at SHS
During the winter months, on most Saturday mornings, keen Year 5 and Year 6 budding mathematicians from Stamford Junior School and other feeder preparatory schools (from as far away as Grantham) have been coming along to Stamford High School to share their interest and enthusiasm for mathematics.
The sessions gave everyone the opportunity to extend their problem solving skills by working on a variety of mathematical investigations, puzzles and problems. The activities also helped to prepare the pupils for participation in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge, a prestigious competition usually aimed at pupils in Years 7 and 8. More importantly, though, everyone had great fun, as there were lots of group activities.
As a thank-you to the regular band of Parents, Grandparents and Carers, who provided first-class taxi services throughout the winter without complaint, there was a special family session on Saturday 23rd March, filling the school hall with family teams of mathematical problem solvers
