Boys Enjoy Tea with Award-Winning Author
Students from the Lower School Book group at Stamford School and other invited guests were lucky enough to meet with award-winning author Sally Gardner during an informal afternoon tea party in the library on Thursday 25th April. This charming author and her adorable daschund, Lottie, kept the audience enthralled as she spoke of her harrowing childhood in various different schools and the obstacles she faced in learning to cope with severe dyslexia. The author also answered many questions about her latest novel, Maggot Moon, and the various influences and ideas that led her to write this shocking and powerful story.
Maggot Moon is one of only 6 novels on the shortlist for the Carnegie Cillip prize for fiction this year. Let’s hope that this extraordinary book receives the recognition that it fully deserves.
