Chess Success at Delancey Mega-final
Over 50 pupils from Stamford Junior School took part in the annual UK Chess Challenge throughout the Spring Term. Thomas Stokes, Tom O’Donovan, Edward Hall and Joseph Saunders from Y4, Lottie Pike, Y5, and Nikhil Gandamaneni, Y6, all qualified for the Delancey Chess mega-finals– which took place on May 18th in Northampton.
Edward received a rosette, and Nikhil and Joseph gained enough points to qualify for the next round – the Gigafinal – which takes place in Manchester in July.
Michelle Hewett, Class Teacher at the Junior School, said: “Congratulations to all the children who took part, showing their commitment to and passion for the game of chess.”
