SJS PA Donate £800 to The Children's Society

childrens society cheque This week, the Stamford Junior School Parents’ Association handed over a cheque for £800 to Joan Roddan, Chair of the Stamford Fundraising Committee for The Children’s Society. The Children’s Society’s current campaign 'Fair and Square' aims to ensure that all children in need of a free school meal receive one.

Joan Roddan, Chair of the Stamford Fundraising Committee for The Children’s Society, said: “We are very grateful to the Stamford Junior School Parents’ Association for choosing to help our campaign which will support children in our region.  Our statistics show that in the Grantham and Stamford area 48% of children living in poverty are not entitled to free school meals which equates to around 1,200 local children.”

Mrs Smith, Head of Stamford Junior School, commented:  “We are delighted to be part of this campaign – just one of the many local causes for which the Stamford Junior School Parents’ Association raises funds, by holding various events for pupils and their families throughout the year.”
