Students turn pages for charity!
Last weekend, 41 students from the Stamford Endowed Schools took part in a charity readathon to raise funds for the Friends of Chernobyl’s Children (FOCC).
Cecilia Hammond, Group Co-ordinator of Helpston FOCC, gave a speech and officially started the readathon at 4pm on Friday 14th June. Cecilia spoke about how the money raised by the Stamford Endowed Schools will help the charity bring 7yr old Danik to the UK for a month over the summer.
After reading for two hours on the Friday night, the students arrived bright and early at 8am the next morning to continue their readathon. 10 pupils stayed for the duration of the day with many others juggling their reading around sporting commitments.
Lorna Blissett, English teacher at Stamford School, said “Thank you to everyone who took part and helped raise money for such a worthwhile cause.”
