Girls put through their paces at regional hockey selection
Having been selected from the Leicestershire Hockey Squad to attend a Junior Regional Performance Centre’s (JRPC); Maeve MacDonald and Sophie Skelton, both Y9, have been selected from this squad to go forward to play off for selection to attend High Performance Assessment Camp (HiPAC). HiPAC is a residential three-day camp held annually for players in the U15 and U17 age group who have been selected for squads from JRPC Tier 1 activity. These squads are called the Saxon Tigers, the Pennine Pumas, the Wessex Leopards and the Mercia Lynx.
The HiPAC aims to give players in the U15 and U17 age groups first-hand experience of an international training camp environment, in preparation for potential future involvement in a National Age Group Squad (NAGS). Players will receive high level coaching, led by England Hockey Board appointed Centrally Contracted Coaches and Regional Coaches, and match play opportunities. There will also be workshops on subjects such as anti-doping, injury management and nutrition.
There were eighteen players put forward from Nottingham JRPC of which two are from Stamford High School – a huge achievement for the School.
