Girls show promise at cross-country competition

Girls from Stamford High School have shown their talent at two cross country events at Crowland and Stanground College as part of the Fenland League. There were some stand-out performances from the Y9/10s with Megan Ellison (Y9) winning both races. She out-sprinted the second place athlete with ease at Crowland and out-ran a group of 5 leading runners over the final lap at Stanground to win by a more substantial margin. Other exceptional SHS performances came from Katie Crowther (3rd at Crowland), Holly Youles and Gemma Andreae (6th and 10th respectively at Stanground). The Stamford High School Y9/10 team are currently ranked second in the Fenland League with two more competitions to follow in March.
