Dash To Victory!

Stamford School Athletics ChampionOn Monday Stamford School boy Ben Shepherd, Year 7, stormed into the record books by being the first Stamford School boy to gain a title at the National Prep Schools’ Track and Field Championships. Following qualification at the Eastern Regional finals, he finished in less than thirteen seconds to claim first place in the 100m sprint at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. It is an even greater achievement in that his progress this season has been a little hampered by injury.

Director of Sport David Laventure was full of praise: “Ben deserves a huge pat on the back. It’s a great achievement – we are looking forward to seeing him putting all that speed to good use on the rugby and hockey pitches come September!” George Robinson, also of Year 7, finished a very respectable 6th in the final of the 1500m.
