Girls selected for National Football Squad
Two students from Stamford High School have been invited to represent the Independent Schools Football Association as part of the inaugural U18 Girls National Squad. Abbie Brewin, Year 12, and Hannah Brewis, Year 11, have both been selected following the 2012 Regional Festival.
ISFA scoured the nation to choose the very best players for their U18 team. In a letter to the girls, Susannah Abbott, ISFA Girls’ Football Chair, said “You are considered to be among the outstanding players in the country within the independent sector.”
Andy Elliot, PE Teacher at Stamford High School, said “Abbie and Hannah are two very skilful players. They have been absolutely outstanding all season and played a major part in Stamford High School’s victory against ACS Cobham in the ISFA cup final. They fully deserve to be included in the National squad and we are sure they will be an integral part of the National Independent Schools U18 team.”
In the coming months, the girls will be attending a series of development camps where they will train with the rest of the team. Their first match will be against Oxford University on 25th October.
