Two SES Students Represent Lincolnshire

Two Stamford Endowed Schools students were in action representing Lincolnshire at the 53rd English Schools Cross Country Championships on March 16th, held this year at Catton Park in Derbyshire.

Chris Allison and Ismay Fox (both Y12) were up against the country’s best cross country runners in this prestigious annual event where nearly 2500 competitors from 45 counties ranging from Cumbria to the Channel Islands race for a series of individual and team titles.

The course was demanding with two steep hill sections but excellent viewing for the spectators who could see most of the undulating course from the main viewing area. By the time the Senior Boys and Senior Girls races were run at the end of the day, the course had become a quagmire making it punishing going for everyone.

Chris put in an excellent performance to finish 114th out of 311 and the third Lincolnshire runner home while Ismay on her English Schools debut came in a worthy 229th out of 288 as the sixth Lincolnshire runner. Congratulations to both.
