Star Netballer is Player of the Season

velvet cordialStamford High School student, Velvet Cordial Y9, has been awarded Lincs Academies Player of the Season 2012/13 for netball. Velvet started playing at county level in September 2012 and since then she has gone from strength to strength becoming a key member of the Lincolnshire Academies team.

As well as playing netball at county level, Velvet is a member of the Sleaford Barge netball club where she trains and plays matches every week. Velvet has also been a key netballer for Stamford High School and she has recently been awarded the Junior Netball Trophy for her commitment throughout the season. As a shooter (GA) her position is vital to her team winning and she has certainly helped contribute to the team’s success.

Heidi Myles, PE Teacher at Stamford High School, said: “We are extremely proud of Velvet's achievement as Lincs Academies Player Of The Season 2012/13 for netball. She is a fine netball player and example to all others at SHS. Velvet has now set the bar high and we look forward to following her successes further on the netball court.”
