Gymnasts Take Part in International Competition
Two Stamford High School students, Maddy Young Y10 and Lottie Smith Y7, represented Huntingdon Gymnastics Club in an International Club competition. Huntingdon fielded the youngest team at the competition and the SHS girls were up against a Brazilian Olympian and the team from The Academy in Portishead who are national champions.
The girls performed on all 4 piece of Olympic gymnastics apparatus; beam, floor, vault and bars. Both of the girls had a positive competition and performed all of their routines with no major errors. The Huntingdon team finished 10th which was a fantastic achievement for such a young team and they were praised by the judges for their improvement.
Both of the girls have a heavy competition schedule ahead of them, in September alone they will be competing at the Cambs County Championships, East Region Championships and the Alpha Factor Invitational.
