Army

The boys and girls involved in the Army Section cover a wide variety of training and progress towards the Army Proficiency Certificate (Advanced) by the end of Year 11.

Well motivated and capable cadets will reach positions of responsibility and will go on to lead and instruct other cadets. Everyone is involved in Section competitions and has opportunities to attend camps, courses and parades.

Many add to their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme through their CCF experience.

The initial year is spent doing basic CCF training covering map & compass, foot drill, military knowledge, skill at arms (weapons safety), expedition training, first aid and field craft.

This is followed in the second year by leadership and adventure training, and advanced work in all the skills learnt in the first year.

Field days and weekend exercises are undertaken at various local army facilities and can range from live shooting to assault courses. Sixth Form cadets will lead platoons developing communication, instructional and leadership skills.
