Stamford School

Cross-country

Cross-country has featured significantly in the life of our students for many years, and Stamford School has enjoyed a national reputation in recent times.

All students run in Physical Education in the Lower School, and cross-country remains an option in the games programme for all year groups. The internal season culminates in the school’s longest standing inter-House event, the celebrated “Burghley Run,” where the boys follow the famous equestrian course around the grounds of Burghley House.

All boys are invited to join the various running clubs, and although the majority of the fixtures are in the Spring, team training starts in the Autumn Term. Alongside fixtures against other independent schools in the region, the sides compete in the district competitions and the Fenland League, where they regularly achieve a huge amount of success.
