Stamford Junior School

Curriculum

curriculum stamford junior schoolThe curriculum provided is broad, balanced and challenging to enable all of our children to fulfil their potential. We aim to promote a love of learning and joy in discovery.

In addition to all the National Curriculum subjects, children experience an exciting introduction to Modern Foreign Languages, focusing on French and Spanish.

Pupils are taught core subjects by their form teachers, with specialist teaching being provided in chosen areas, such as Sport, Art, Modern Foreign Languages and Music. I.C.T. is used to enhance the teaching of all subjects, with interactive whiteboards in every classroom making learning exciting, colourful and meaningful.

Sport is taught to an exceptionally high standard, with many pupils competing at national level. Pupils, from Nursery onwards, also enjoy weekly swimming lessons throughout the school year in our own indoor heated pool.

Music is also a great strength of the school, with the majority of children playing an instrument, an outstanding orchestra, Jazz Band, Fiddle Band and many instrumental groups. From Year Four onwards, many children chose to join the very successful choir, which sings at local venues.

Many extra–curricular activities are provided, enriching the pupils’ education. Core subjects are also enhanced by exciting educational visits, including residential ones.

The school is justifiably proud of its outstanding academic achievements and of our confident, articulate children, who impress all our visitors.
