Registration

Please register your child with us for entry into Year 7 at any point up to Friday 1st December 2017.

Entrance Examination

Entry to the School is dependent upon a satisfactory performance in the Entrance Examination which takes place in January prior to September entry. Candidates’ performances in the examination are assessed in conjunction with a formal academic reference solicited from their present school in the January prior to the examination.

The examination comprises three standardised (NFER) test papers in Mathematics, English and Non-Verbal Reasoning. 

Mathematics

Percentages, angles, symmetry, sequences, diagrammatic representation of data, averages, geometric shapes, fractions, temperature, time, simple probability.

English

Simple comprehension, punctuation and sentence construction.  Recognition of nouns, verbs and adjectives.

Non-Verbal Reasoning Test          

The ability to recognise similarities, analogies and patterns in an unfamiliar design, making sense of new information.                                                        

These topics are covered by the National Curriculum. The papers are of multiple choice format and similar to those available at larger branches of W.H. Smith for 11+ entry or can be found online from organisations such as Bond (www.bond11plus.co.uk). The school does not publish or share past papers.
