Food and Nutrition
This exciting, practically based course in Food and Nutrition is a preparation for living in a contemporary, multi-cultural society. It builds on the skills acquired in Year 9 and provides opportunity to develop skills of independent learning through the practical assessment.
The Cambridge syllabus covers the following areas which will be taught through practical and theory lessons: Nutrition and Health, Digestion and Absorption, Food Commodities, Dietary Guidelines and Meal Planning, Food Preparation and Cooking, Food Safety and Preservation and Kitchen Planning.
Throughout the course, candidates can expect to cook every week and will need to plan and prepare their ingredients the evening before. They will need to be organised, and have the ability to think ahead.
