Stamford High School

History

All pupils studying History at GCSE will follow the OCR course: “The Modern World”. This enables pupils to develop knowledge of key issues and people in the Twentieth Century which is crucial to an understanding of the world in which we live today. It also fosters an appreciation of how learning from past events can help improve the future.

At the end of Year 9 girls will have the opportunity to take part in a two day visit to the battlefields of Ypres, in Belgium, and the Somme, in France. As well as being a memorable and moving experience this visit will give them an understanding of events which shaped the rest of the Twentieth Century. It is also a useful introduction to the British Depth Study.
