The Stamford Endowed Schools are served by one team of music staff. The Music School comprises over 30 staff thus ensuring a flexible and innovative approach to all aspects of music making. The School offers high quality tuition over the widest possible selection of instruments, voice and technology by a group of dedicated and renowned teachers.
Music flourishes in all three schools. There are a large number of regular ensembles which students can join including orchestras, chamber groups, choirs, wind bands and jazz bands within each school. At Stamford School and Stamford High School joint ensembles take place for advanced music-making, particularly in the sixth form. There is a regular joint SES Musical which is a highlight of the year both at Stamford School and Stamford High School.
There are currently about 600 individual music lessons given every week. Students may be entered for Associated Board, Trinity Guildhall and Rock School graded examinations chosen to suit the needs of the individual student. The Endowed Schools have a proud record of results in music examinations which regularly feature Distinctions in all grades. Some pupils go on to gain Diplomas while still at school. The academic music record is also impressive, with Music and Music Technology taught to A2 Level. Many students continue to study music at University.
