Young Sailors Prepare for RS Feva World Championships
Two students from the Stamford Endowed Schools’, Tom Proffitt (Year 10) and Alex Middleton (Year 8), have been training hard to qualify for the RS Feva World Championships in Carnac, France. They have competed in a variety of RS Feva competitions around the UK this season including the National Championships at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (the 2012 Olympic sailing venue), where out of over 100 competing boats they gained 16th place in the Silver Fleet.
Stamford Endowed Schools’ sailing coach Andrew Crookell commented: “Tom and Alex have worked really hard to develop both their boat speed and their tactical approach to the race. Carnac will be a wonderful opportunity for them to bring it all together and show what they are really capable of doing.”
