Students Shake, Rock and Roll Into ‘Grease’ Production
Students from the Stamford Endowed Schools have spent months preparing to perform the hit musical ‘Grease’, the show opened on Tuesday 17th March, with five sold-out performances to follow.
Students in Years 10-13 from the Stamford Endowed Schools took on the task of tackling this high energy musical. Rehearsals began in earnest back in October 2014, with students involved in everything from acting, to the technical team, to set construction. Staff at the schools have been fully on board as well, with the Drama teachers Mrs Hill and Miss Davies directing and producing, Chemistry teacher Miss Woodward in charge of costumes, Head of Music taking care of the band and Mrs Walklin from the Art Department has designed the large-scale set.
With new facilities in place at the Oswald Elliott Hall, the set and lighting teams were ready to impress; the students put all their energy into the opening night performance, with a 400-strong audience laughing and cheering all the way through.
