Triennial Malcolm Sargent Concert
Every three years the SES Choral Society together with the Stamford Choral Society perform a major work in Peterborough Cathedral to recognise the links between Stamford, Stamford School and the great conductor, Malcolm Sargent.
This year’s work is the Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini and will be performed on Saturday 5th March at 7.30 pm. Giles Turner, the Director of Music at SES, will conduct a chorus of over one hundred and fifty singers and there will be a professional orchestra and soloists.
VOX, Stamford School's very own Stamford boy’s school choir (Years 7-10), and the other SES choirs, Chapel Choir and Choral Society, are all to take part in the Concert. They will perform together with the SHS choirs, Cantarini and Cantare, and the Stamford Town Choral Society.
Director of Music at SES, Giles Turner said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to sing a large scale choral work, in a massed choir accompanied by an orchestra and it promises to be a night to remember.
Tickets are available here or through Stamford Arts Centre, Peterborough Visitor Information Centre, or on the door.
