Young Chefs Impress at Rotary Competition
Stamford High School hosted the annual Rotary Club Young Chef competition with young chefs from across the town taking part. The task was to plan, prepare, cook and serve a healthy two course meal for two people using as many local and seasonal ingredients as possible, for under £10.
There were seven entrants including four girls from Stamford High School and three from Queen Eleanor. The girls were Sophie Rickett Y10, Vivian Au Y11, Kristy Kan Y11 and Alix Gilespie Y13.They had 30 minutes preparation time and 1 ½ hours of cooking before the judging. A whole range of delicious and inventive meals were served up to the judges.
Stamford High School student, Kristy Kan Y11, won the competition with her Teriyaki beef in lettuce cups served with miso chicken and rice soup followed by strawberry cheesecake for dessert.
Head Judge, Chris Pitman, said: “I know I say this every year but the standard keeps getting higher and higher. All the desserts were superb.”
