30th April - Performing Arts Centre Update
The SES Performing Arts Centre project is well underway and good progress has been made on both buildings at Stamford School.
School Hall Works
Floor strengthening works have been completed along with the laying and finishing of the new oak timber flooring which is now covered for protection while the remainder of the works are being carried out.
Works to widen the access doors to the balcony from the atrium have taken place which in turn will increase the seating capacity on the balcony along with the installation of the new glazed handrail to the front of the balcony. Joinery is currently being installed on the balcony to receive the bench seating and the retractable bench seating which is due for delivery this week.
Old Gymnasium Building
The Performing Arts Centre is now starting to take shape with majority of the internal walls now in place.
The shell forming the single storey extension to the rear is now complete along with a large number of structural steelwork alterations to form the new classrooms.
Many of the windows in the gymnasium have been blocked up to provide the black box drama and performing space.

After a full tender process, Lux Technical has been awarded the supply and installation of the Performing Arts Centre/ Hall lighting and sound equipment. Lux Technical has supported SES in a number of its productions over the years and is a business run and owned by Peter Gibbons, an OS.
