Pupils Learn Bushcraft Skills
47 Year 4 pupils from Stamford Junior School enjoyed a three day residential at Houghton Hall Park in Norfolk learning bushcraft skills. The pupils were divided into four tribes and enjoyed activities such as shelter building, trapping, using cutting tools, fire-making and adopting camouflage. They were taught several new collaborative games by the Bushcraft Company staff and delighted in the songs and stories around the campfire in the evenings.
The children relished being taken out of their comfort zone, sleeping out under the shelters they built, eating goat curry and other field-prepared food and going without much of a wash for three days!
