Paint the Horse
In Association with the Stamford Endowed Schools, Alltech held a new UK equestrian art competition for school children over the summer. The Alltech Paint the Horse Competition, open to pupils aged 6 to 18, was created to support Team GBR’s attendance at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in 2010.
Participants created original designs using a horse template. The national winner will have his or her design professionally painted onto a life-size model horse, which will be paraded at the Olympia London International Horse Show in December.
A special Stamford Endowed Schools category of the competition was open to all of our students, with Georgina Dowsett taking first position. Georgina’s design was then painted onto a scale model of a horse.
Explaining the inspiration for her horse design, Georgina said “I did my horse this way by firstly outlining the white gaps on the horse. Next I thought of the idea of drawing on the muscles of the horse. I followed this idea but I put imaginative shapes on instead of putting the exact shapes of the muscle groups on. I chose reds and blues for the colours because they are the main colours of my school. Also, if you include the white gaps in between the shapes, they are the colours on the Union Jack, so as well as representing my school, it represents our country. It is also the colours of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games logo.”
