Pupils Take Part in ‘The Big Draw’
A group of students from Years 3-6 at Stamford Junior School took part in the nation-wide drawing festival ‘The Big Draw’ on Saturday 4th October, to create big and bold images of their own school.
The Big Draw was set up to encourage people of all ages to see drawing as a way of communicating and understanding the world, and the students of SJS used this idea to look more closely at their school. At the start of the day, the children made initial sketches finding their inspiration from all around school and choosing areas that they would like to represent as part of the project. After these first drawings they then translated their ideas onto brightly coloured paper, using a variety of bold materials, and then mounted them on sparkly 3D card to be displayed.
Freya Parsons, Year 6, said that the end product was “Big, bold and exciting!”
