Students Raise Funds for ‘Disability Rocks’
Students from the Stamford Endowed Schools organised a Charity Rock concert, held on Friday 6th February, in aid of the arts charity, Disability Rocks.
Charity Rock was put together by a group of Year 13 Prefects, Fraser Norton, Ben Crick, Nick Webb, Claudia Riddington, Meg O’Keefe, Fru Wilson, Ellie Wilcock and Freya Harvey. The Sixth Form students arranged for a variety of SES student-led bands to perform sets to nearly 200 students from Year 10 to 13 from across the senior schools. The tickets sold have enabled the Prefects to raise over £600 for Disability Rocks.
Disability Rocks is a not for profit organisation providing positive experiences through music and art, for people living with disabilities. It emphasises the encouraging impact involvement in arts events can have on people’s lives. The charity was chosen as the cause for the concert by prefect, Fraser Norton, who having played at one of their festivals last year, was impressed with their ethos.
Teachers, Miss K Allen and Mrs J Fox oversaw the organisation of the event, Miss Allen said; “All those involved in the planning and staging of the event agreed that it was a very enjoyable evening, it was fantastic to see so many students enjoying the entertainment provided by their peers and raising money to assist others.”
