Pupils Enjoy Mosaic Making!
7 pupils attended a mosaic making workshop as part of Stamford Junior School’s weekend activity programme.
The pupils were introduced to the art of mosaic making by Mrs Connolly, who showed them an example of a mosaic and explained how it was made and how best to approach the project. The children were encouraged to draw their design on paper first and were reminded to keep their design simple as small details could be hard to achieve with the size of mosaic pieces available.
Everyone had great fun, choosing from bowls of different coloured mosaic pieces, which were then stuck on to round card bases. Following a break, the pupils returned to grout their designs and were carefully shown how to scrape off the excess and then use a sponge to polish it off at the end. There were some incredible results and the children thoroughly enjoyed the morning!
