Czech Choir Visit
From Monday 7th Sept to Saturday 12th Sept, the Stamford Endowed Schools hosted a choir from Pedagogical Grammar School in Caslav, a town near Kutna Hora (a twin town with Stamford) in the Czech Republic. 30 girls and two boys sang in three concerts: one in the SHS hall, in All Saints Church and in the village Hall in Swayfield, directed by Jana Vrnakova and accompanied by Ilona Pipkova and Lukas Ondrasik. They entertained enraptured audiences with folk music, traditional Czech songs and contemporary music. Our own Cantare choir sang as well, directed by Margaret Bennett and accompanied by Duncan McIlrae.
The Czech choir visited Burghley House, Cambridge, York, Peterborough Cathedral and London, and thoroughly enjoyed their stay in England.
