SES Golf goes from Strength to Strength
Stamford Endowed Schools Golf Team have retained their title and trophy in the local Quadrilateral Match, against Oakham, Oundle and Uppingham, held at Luffenham Heath Golf Club.
Featuring players ranging from Y9 to Y13, the squad of Hugo Kedzlie, Imogen Huxley, Captain Ollie Huxley, Ellie Haughton, Will Ceraldi, Mike McLaughlin, Jacob Robinson and his brother Will Robinson produced a combined Stableford total, based on the best 6 scores, of 194 points. This was a remarkable tally, achieved on a demanding course in windy conditions. The performances of Ellie Haughton (Y10) and Will Ceraldi (Y13) were particularly notable, given that they had never played on the course before, while Imogen Huxley, playing off an impressive handicap of 4, showed why she has been awarded a four-year golf scholarship to a University in Alabama.
After 4 results were in, the combined totals were very close between Stamford and Uppingham. Happily, the Robinson brothers, Jacob (Y12) and Will (Y9) repeated their successes from last year, recording highly respectable scores of 31 and 33 points respectively, and ensuring a twelve point winning margin.
Another outstanding performance was that of Hugo Kedzlie who, at the age of 14, is already playing off a handicap of one, and seems destined to get to scratch, and lower, very soon. He shot a gross score of 69, three under par, amassing an amazing 40 points. This matched his equally impressive performance a few weeks ago when his three under par total helped him win the Lincolnshire Schools Golf Championship held at Holme Hall G.C. in Scunthorpe.
