Stamford Junior School have been invited to participate in the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge, sponsored by Jaguar on 21st June 2016.
Members of the teams will be required to make an aerodynamic model F1™ car which will be raced against other participating schools in the Regional Finals in May and National Final at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry on 21st June.
Students are challenged to form a team of four pupils and design a race car out of 160g/m² card, complete with wheels, body and even a mini driver. They will design and manufacture a body shell to fit a standard chassis using template software before printing/cutting their designs onto card and then making their car ready to race. The students have to produce a Portfolio of their work and a Pit Display which will showcase their promotional products. Students are expected to gain Sponsorship from local companies in order to help their project succeed.
Mrs Quare, Year 6 Teacher of Stamford Junior School explained; “The competition will expose students to graphic design, project management, website design, computer-aided manufacturing, sponsorship and team work.”
