CCF Qualify for Air Squadron Trophy Final
On Sunday 27th November 14 cadets from the RAF section of Stamford Endowed Schools Combined Cadet Force (CCF) travelled to RAF Cranwell to take part in the Eastern Area heat of the Air Squadron Trophy, where they finished a brilliant overall second.
The competition is for all RAF CCF sections in the country. The 14 cadets competed against 16 other teams from the Eastern area in; command task, drill, first aid, RAF knowledge, aircraft recognition, fitness and shooting categories.
The Stamford cadets came first in the command task and shooting classifications, with Jay Naylor being the highest scorer. They also finished in third place in the fitness test.
The strong scoring meant the cadets managed to beat last year's overall position of seventh by coming second. A huge achievement given there are 33 teams in the Eastern area. As a result the team will now go to the National final in March at RAF Halton and compete against teams from up and down the country.
The Drill Squad were presented with the certificates and trophy’s they won on Friday by Head of Stamford School Nick Gallop, in front of the rest of the CCF.
