Former High School girl talks of her life in the Red Arrows
Flt Lt Kirsty Moore (former Stamford High School Head Girl and first woman pilot in the Red Arrows) returned to the Stamford Endowed Schools to deliver a Foundation lecture about her career to date. Over the course of an hour she provided 300 pupils, parents and guests with a fascinating insight into her journey from the High School to life as a Red Arrows pilot.
The lecture included film footage about the Red Arrows, an explanation of how to fly in formation and an opportunity for the audience to ask questions, including “Do you ever feel sick?” It was also an opportunity for Kirsty to see some of her former teachers and friends again.
The Head of Stamford High School, Mrs Dyl Powell said “We are incredibly proud of Kirsty and she is a great ambassador for the Schools. Kirsty embodies the spirit that is instilled in all of our pupils; she has that special mixture of intelligence, courage, down to earth charm and steely ambition. I know that the pupils who listened this evening have been inspired by Kirsty and her story. She is a fantastic role model.”
