Biology Field Work
Seventy three Y12 students spent three days carrying out field work in Yorkshire as part of their A2 biology course. Based at the Cranedale Centre in Kirby Grindalythe, SES students investigated the abundance and distribution of various populations of organisms using ecological techniques. They collected data from various sites including Pocklington Beck and the rocky sea shore at Filey. They then spent time carrying out statistical analysis of their data and discussing their findings. The enthusiasm of the students, variety of activities and excellent weather made for a very successful trip.
