A-level Students Gain Excellent Results

Students at the Stamford Endowed Schools - Stamford School (boys) and Stamford High School (girls) - are again celebrating outstanding A level examination results.

Overall the 180 students gained top grades of A*, A or B in 75% of their examinations (the same as last year). 47% of examinations taken were passed at A* and A grade and an impressive 90% of examinations were passed at A, B or C grade standard. This is the second year of the A* at A level and 65 were gained. Out of the total of 180 students, 52 (about one in three of all students) gained at least three A grades.

Stephen Roberts, Principal of the Endowed Schools, said "I am again delighted by the performance of our Sixth Form students. These exceptional results are the culmination of hard-work and determination from our highly motivated students and the support and dedication of our teaching staff.

"This has been a challenging year for our students with the announcement of rises in university tuition fees from 2012 and a record number of applications to university. University offers were therefore more challenging than ever. It is very pleasing that the vast majority of our students will have gained a place at university and for those pursuing other paths, their excellent grades and broad education will give them a strong advantage in the job market. I am very proud of all of our students and our teaching staff for maintaining our high academic standards, and I wish all of our departing students every success in the next stage of their educational journey."

The Sixth Form open evening will take place on Tuesday 11th October 2011 and will give students and their families an insight into what makes our Sixth Form so special. Please email or call 01780 750310 for more information on joining our Sixth Form.
