Year 6 rugby team finish Stellar SJS rugby career on a high
Stamford U11A team travelled to Warwick School for their final fixture for the Junior School in December knowing they would be well and truly tested by rugby stalwarts QEGS Wakefield, Warwick, Bedford and The Croft. They battled hard all afternoon and came away with four wins out of four and more impressively did not concede a single try.
This is only a tiny portion of what they have achieved during their time playing rugby and other sports at SJS, which has the Senior School licking their lips at what is yet to come. We could write a whole paragraph of statistics and results including the fact that they have only lost one fixture since U8’s (and that was in the National Finals) but it would overshadow the real reason why they have been successful. As a group of boys they have grown incredibility close over the years with and they all possess the core values of which we associate with sport and rugby especially. They like to listen, learn and improve as individuals and a team, they enjoy every training session or match like it will be their last, they like to have fun on the field of play even if it means making mistakes and more importantly they are true competitors. This grit and determination has been evident throughout their time at SJS and will hopefully hold them in good stead throughout the rest of their time in education and in life. We are incredibility proud of their achievement’s, which I am sure will not be matched for a long time to come.
