SJS Staff Take on the High Peak Winter Trail!
Five ladies from Stamford Junior School decided to embark on the High Peak Winter Trail. The members of staff - two teachers, two teaching assistants and the School Nurse - enrolled on the 17 mile hike to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
Michelle Nelson, School Nurse, saw the event advertised and felt it would be a very appropriate way of showing the school’s support for a colleague who tragically lost her husband only weeks after taking early retirement last year.
Michelle said ‘We were all devastated by Shirley Catlin’s loss and had been looking for a positive way of showing our support for her and her family!’ Shirley was so touched by the gesture that she joined them for the hike.
Despite cold and wet weather, everyone completed the hike and each received a medal at the finish. They celebrated the finish with a well deserved glass of champagne supplied by Mr Crow. Funds are still rolling in but so far they have raised a very credible £500.
Well done ladies, same time next year?
