Children enjoy an Indian Themed Weekend
Last weekend, nineteen children enjoyed an Indian Themed Weekend at Stamford Junior School. Friday evening activities included painting Rangoli patterns on cotton sheets and exploring the basics of yoga. After spending the night in the boarding house, the children played ‘Indian Long-ball’ – a game based on cricket, and paired games. An Indian mid-morning snack set the scene for an hour of Indian cookery, during which they made four different Indian dishes. An Indian lunch was followed by some energetic Bollywood dancing, the children making up and performing their own routines. The children’s day was concluded by practicing and performing an Indian play, the boys and girls showing impressive improvising skills to interpret the drama with little rehearsal.
