Y9s have an insightful lesson in WWII History
Dennis Greenslade QPM, a veteran of the 1944-45 Burma campaign, travelled from Somerset to talk to Year 9 historians on Monday 10th June about his experiences on the Far East front during World War Two. Dennis, grandfather of teacher Hannah Grant, served as a private front line soldier in the 19th Indian Division of the British army, and was involved in jungle warfare against the Japanese until the war ended. Dennis attended two different classes and the girls took advantage of this opportunity to ask him a very wide range of questions about his involvement in the war, gaining a valuable and unique insight into this period of history. The experience was appreciated and enjoyed by all.
