Stamford School Boy Represents County

Chris competes in mini marathonAs Cambridgeshire U15 cross country champion, Stamford School's Chris Allison was invited to represent the county in the Eastern Region team for the Virgin Money Giving London mini marathon team on April 17th.

The mini marathon is now the official UK Junior road running championship, with runners from all London boroughs and the UK, and is run over the least three miles of the London marathon course, which even at 9.30 in the morning was crowded with eager spectators cheering on the runners. The start was overseen by Philips Idowo, the UK triple jump champion, and around 200 runners competed in each of the six age classes (under 13, under 15 and under 17, boys and girls). A dramatic fall on the crowded start line didn’t help Chris’s chances but he finished the course 69th in a respectable time of around 17 minutes.
