Cross Country Contender
Successive weekends saw Year 11 pupil Chris Allison running in two national cross country competitions.
On Saturday 10 March Chris ran for Cambridgeshire U17 men’s team in the UK Inter Counties Championships, which pits the best club athletes in each county against each other.
On a twisty narrow course around Cofton Park in Birmingham with 250 other runners, Chris found it tough work moving up the field and finished 170th, despite a blistering sprint finish.
The following Saturday he competed for Lincolnshire Schools in the Intermediate Boys race at the English Schools Cross Country Championships at RNAS Merryfield, near Ilminster in Somerset.
Here Chris finished 124th out of 330 starters, and was second home for Lincolnshire in the team of eight, helping them to a respectable 24th place out of 44 counties.
This was all good preparation for the athletics season on the track, which starts in April.
