Stamford High School Rowing Team Success

Winner of National Junior Indoor Rowing The Stamford High School rowing teams have continued their success this year with their excellent results at the National Junior Indoor Rowing Competition in London. Megan Stoker managed to beat 117 rowers to become the National Indoor Champion of the Year 9 category. Megan not only beat her personal best but she managed to achieve a huge distance of 1,098m in only four minutes.

Jess Fowler, PE Teacher at Stamford High School said, “The whole team had a very enjoyable day with pleasing results, and we are all excitedly waiting for NJIRC 2013!”

The Stamford High School team was also invited to join the Peterborough indoor rowing league this year. Many of the girls have raced each month to try for personal bests and top three places. The results are calculated as a percentage of the gold medal standard which is set by the Rowing Association. Megan Stoker and Ana Pywell have excelled in their performances, achieving above Gold Medal standard throughout the year.

Megan Stoker has now started rowing at Peterborough Rowing Club and she will certainly be someone to watch out for in the future.
