Exceptional Performance in National Cross Country
On Saturday 20th March, Year 9 student Christopher Allison placed an exceptional 82nd out of a field of 329 in the Aviva ESAA English Schools Cross Country Championship. Christopher completed the 4,000m course in a time of 13:36.
It was far from a dry race and conditions ranged from firm to swamp-like. The course was mostly flat with some steep banks, with the occasional tree in the middle of the course for good measure! Starting at the back - his start position was based on his 6th place at the Louth meeting - Christopher spent his race trying to get past people and getting spiked in both legs in the process (see picture). His usual sprint finish took him up another 10 places. He is now looking forward to the 800m and 1500m competitions in the summer with the school and his club, Nene Valley Harriers.
